5 Dungeons in Space

A GLoG_ASTRA setting, revealed in 5 dungeons.

  1. Death's Bones - In the Hounds' War, the Liberators built a super-weapon in secret. This gargantuan station, constructed over decades to combat the Dominion's entire fleet, served its purpose at the last, but was itself rendered useless. The Bones are the wreckage of that final battle, a thousand ships floating around a broken sphere, an eternal reminder of the savagery mortals are capable of. While most of the bones are now entirely uninhabitable (and illegal to board), it's whispered that pockets of survivors cling to life in the wreckage, changed over the years by desperation, radiation, and Zero-G, but some still dare to sweep in and cut out valuable wartime tech to sell to the highest bidder.

    • Treasures: Military Tech, Ship Systems, Raw Materials
    • Hazards: Space-walking, Mutants, Military Traps / AIs
    • Quest: Scan for living survivors, and retrieve one alive if possible.
  2. Song of the Ice - Even the oldest peoples lack records from before the Dominion. A thousand thousand years we survived under the bureaucratic machine of industry and expansion. The myths of what came before are probably propaganda: a rumor of crueler gods to inspire us to accept the monsters who ruled us. Naturally, most evidence of the so-called Shapers was destroyed or locked away under the Dominion, we wouldn't want their evil coming back, would we? So when the ice moon of Besiak 9 began to sing, the liberated galaxy was forced to ask the question, "Will we listen?"

    • Treasures: Ancient Tech, Lore, Currency
    • Hazards: Shifting Ice, Signal Interference, Perhaps a Cruel God?
    • Quest: Discover the source of the song, and destroy it if necessary.
  3. Sunburst - Gentarius is about to go super-nova. It has been for the last 300 years, and no one who can possibly escape still lives on the storm-battered planet that circles around it. Months ago, a rescue ark was sent to evacuate the millions of poor and helpless still stranded there, but the ark failed to return. Long-range scans have located it drifting in lazy orbit around the planet, and now a rescue mission has been proposed to rescue the rescue-craft, if there's anything left to rescue.

    • Treasures: Fame, Respect, Currency
    • Hazards: Solar Storms, Psionic Ghosts, Security Drones
    • Quest: Rescue any survivors of the ship's crew and the planet.
  4. Kasrov's Keep - Hidden on the edge of inhabited space, the Pirate Lord Kasrov built a stronghold. Within she piled her stolen wonders; Dominion Art, Media Databases, Psionic Drugs, and stranger things. Just a week ago, a woman claiming to be Kasrov herself - now missing an arm and dying of some strange plague - crash-landed a fighter into a Liberator port. Those who witnessed her raving said there was little sense to most of it, but what was clear was a string of coordinates, recited over and over, along with the words, "To the victor..." She died before receiving care.

    • Treasures: Almost anything imaginable.
    • Hazards: Pirate Traps, Other Adventurers, Whatever Killed Kasrov.
    • Quest: Race to claim the pirate lord's treasure.
  5. Shapers' Forge - A Follow-Up to Song of the Ice. Between the Binary Stars Tuvallius and Canisia, in the impossible solar storm, there is a relic of the Shapers, a forge of their ancient technologies. Though it sat quietly for all these millennia, now a signal has reached that forge, and the shock of its hammers are visible in the swirling dusts of space. In the endless heat of the suns, it forges a new beginning. Dare we allow it? Have we any right to stop it? One thing is sure, the trip in is one-way. No shields could survive long enough to get a crew into and out of the raging storm between the binary suns.

    • Treasures: Ancient Tech, Massive Fame
    • Hazards: Solar Storm, Ancient Defenses, ???
    • Quest: Investigate the new creation before it is too late.
