Near Sumbleton Found
Art by Albert Robida, except as noted.
Built in the crook of the great river Rhynne, on the bones of a city long dead. Folk of all shapes wander in and out.
All things lost are near Sumbleton found.
- Spires rise out of the rock in perfect curves, leaving the landscape unbroken. The wind howls through them, singing ancient words of power.
- A stone archipelago hangs in the sky. Dragonets roost in the roots hanging below them. Gilded fruit ripens above.
- A city drifts by on the breeze, unhindered by silly things like gravity or morality.
- A pair of knights wander the land, looking for a third to be the fair judge in their dispute. They cannot stand one another.
- An exiled fairy cannot return home until she helps three mortals in great acts of heroism. She has helped two, but hasn't found any more true heroes. Doing good is not enough. It must be done at great risk, with no promise of reward other than the prosperity of others.
- The stars dance over a crystal clear lake. Catch their reflection, and you will catch the star.
- A great dragon roosts on the spires of a busy palace. It claims ownership of any who enter, and rages against those who would steal from it. Peasants bring donations to feed and clothe the dragon's hoard, buying their own safety.
- The unicorn's forest. Its touch can heal any illness.
- A knight composed of leaves and flowers, encased in a suit of armor. Bees answer the knight's summons.
- A castle surrounded by a shining silvery moat. If the water is disturbed, the castle disappears. Pleasant music drifts out from within. It is a library of great learning.
- A massive stone tower. The inside is engraved with garish, hateful faces. A sword of shining light is embedded in a dais in the tower's center. Taking the sword opens a gate to a realm of pitch night and evil creatures.
- Stairs to the stars. What would you ask for? Why would they help?
- Goblins rejoice in their fresh kill, chopping it up violently for the soup pot. What poor creature have they slain?
- A mournful ghost. It trades its memories for moments in your living flesh, always teasing at some great secret to be revealed.
- A garden full of fairy fruits. Those who eat them will be sustained by nothing else, but can see invisible things.
- A fallen star that wishes to go home.
- A jester who feeds on the misery of others—though you would never know it.
- A wizard's tower that crawls on spider-like legs.
- Lost temple of a deity who would rather stay forgotten.
- Parasitic song.
