ZLDA: Names & Obsessions
![]()
There's an ongoing bandwagon about naming procedures. Here's mine, styled for ZLDA.
The procedure is simple. Roll twice on a cultural name list, and smash or twist the two names together in some way, then polish a little.
Do not think about it for more than 30 seconds.

A Few Examples
Lets start with some roles we need filled. We'll roll for their race, name, and obsession.
- A traveling merchant.
- A smith who turns monster parts into weapons/armor.
- Someone rescued from evil, who offers help if we get them home.
The Merchant: 6 Zora, 9 8 Mikau Laruta, 15, Crabs
- Taumi, a Zora merchant, travels the waterways of Hyrule accompanied by her giant pack-crab, whom she dotes on. She sells all kinds of gear and supplies, and on 3-in-6 has a treasure map or rare item for sale.
The Smith: 1 Hylian, 2 8 Anton Ivan, 97 Yachts
- Tanivin, a Hylian Smith, sails across the clouds of Hyrule in a small sky-ship. He keeps a mobile forge on board, the weight of which prevents him from offering passage to others. He offers signal flares to monster hunters, and never fails to show up when signaled for.
Someone in need: 2 Goron, 7 12 Golo Rogaro, 61 Numbers
- Lorgor, a goron inventor, was captured by 2 lizalfos while testing a handheld canon in the foothills. Due to a slight miscalculation, his canon lacked sufficient gun powder to defend himself. He's made extensive notes on his own arms to adjust the formula, using a bit of charcoal from the fire over which the lizalfos are (unsuccessfully) attempting to roast him over.
